Joost Dobbe - Times Like These

"Being happy is hard work too".

Joost Dobbe's new album ' Times Like These' tells us about the many aspects of love and friendship. The darkness of loss and loneliness and how the light comes in the shape of melancholy or desire and how this light shines upon us when we experience true happiness. And always realising that the love from and for your loved ones is the only thing that really matters. And that being actually happy is hard work too.

With is his amazing band - The Rolling Bombers - Dobbe has worked for an entire year on these 12 new songs which share a unique mix of rootsy pop, folk and alternative country. Songs that will lodge themselves in your consciousness, breathing an indestructible love for music, musicianship and it's lifestyle. Apart from the 11 songs worth of original material one cover stands out; Van Morrisson's beautiful ' Hungry For Love. With it's bare arrangement of drums and a bass guitar it becomes a typical Joost Dobbe tune: nothing but bare emotions.

Next to the familiar rhythm section, Dave Besse on bass guitar and Mischa Porte on drums, Dobbe collaborated with a lot of befriended musicians like Kristel de Haak (Kris Berry) on vocals, Bram Slinger (Drukwerk) on keyboards and Theo Sieben (Paulusma) on banjo, mandoline and guitar.

Joost Dobbe is a musician by definition. Starting out as a street musician he played through the whole country. From a cigarshop to Paradiso's main hall, Dobbe has played them all and was awarded several times.

With this album Joost Dobbe proves that with your heart for music in it's right place, dedication and hard work beautiful things can be created. And when it does, everything falls in to place at the right moment in time: Times Like These.
